Dr. Vinas completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin in 1969 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Zoology. He earned his doctor of medicine degree in 1973 from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and completed his surgery internship at UTMB hospitals in 1974.
He completed a general and vascular surgery residency in 1978 at Bexar County Hospital District, Audie Murphy Memorial Veterans Hospital in San Antonio. Dr. Vinas was in private practice in San Antonio from 1978 to 1981 when he moved his vascular and general surgery practice to Kerrville.
Dr. Vinas is certified by the American Board of Surgery, and he held a preceptorship in endovascular surgery at Scott & White University from 2004 to 2005. He is a member of the Texas Surgical Society and the Aust Surgical Society. Dr. Vinas also is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and he is bilingual.
